WE ARE THE BROTHERS BEHIND BJAERECHICKEN

Manniskan bakom kvaliteten

The man behind the quality – Mats, animal keeper at Bjärefågel

At Bjärefågel, we usually say that quality begins with care. For Mats, who works as an animal carer and is responsible for breeding at Bjärefågel, it's more than just words – it's a natural part of every working day. Care in every stable round Mats is responsible for chicken breeding and always starts the day with his stable rounds. Ensuring the chickens are well is always the top priority. Recently, we've also made further improvements to the stable environment, including giving the chickens mineral blocks to

Roots of Happiness - när passion för hälsa och riktigt bra råvaror möts

Roots of Happiness – where passion for health and truly good ingredients meet

It started with a passion for health and a clear vision to make a real difference. Six years later, sisters Emma and Evelina have built Roots of Happiness. They started with a food truck and are today a restaurant concept that attracts guests in both Ängelholm and Halmstad with nutritious food, a warm atmosphere, and a clear philosophy around well-being. – We don't actually come from the restaurant industry, but we dared to believe in our idea and go our own way, says Emma.,

Flora x Bjärekyckling – en relation byggd på förtroende och mathantverk

Restaurang Flora x Bjärekyckling – a relationship built on trust and culinary craftsmanship

At Restaurant Flora, located at Thora Vineyard on Bjäre, the focus is on the raw ingredients. Since opening two years ago, Bjäre chicken has never been absent from the menu. This is no coincidence. Head Chef Tobias Millqvist has been collaborating with Bjärefågel founders P-O and Martin Ingemarsson for over 20 years. It's not just about sourcing local produce; it's about shared creativity, logistics, and a mutual interest in elevating chicken beyond the ordinary. Preparation that makes a difference.

Man som håller i en kyckling i famnen.

In connection with the Uppdrag Granskning report on breeding chickens

Uppdrag Granskning has produced a programme about the breeding of "grandparent" animals (mother and father animals) from the company Aviagen SweChick. The programme shows extremely poor handling of breeding animals of fast-growing chicken hybrids. Bjärefågel breeds a slow-growing chicken called Ranger Gold. We do not work with SweChick and the report concerns neither Bjärefågel. The segments shown in Uppdrag Granskning have nothing to do with Bjärefågel's chickens. Slow-growing chicken As early as 2004, Bjärefågel began to look for a slow-growing chicken.

Kycklingar som inte kan klassas som ekologisk kyckling.

Why isn't Bjärekyckling organic?

We are often asked why we don't KRAV-certify Bjärekycklingen and sell it as organic chicken. But is it best for the animals or the most ecologically sustainable? – We brought in a consultant six or seven years ago to discuss the possibilities of converting to organic farming. It's always good to challenge yourself and find out more. But the consultant confirmed what we already believed. There are many reasons for us not to be KRAV-certified, says

”We've created a sustainable food factory!”

Increasing processing and creating new climate-smart quality products has long been a goal for Bjärefågel. Last autumn, we quietly launched production at our new facility at Valhall Park in Ängelholm. – We have created a sustainable food factory! says site manager and product developer Johan Uematsu, somewhat jokingly, as he considers what our new processing facility means for the company. – Expanding our processing was an idea I had been mulling over for a while. When the pandemic hit, we at Bjärefågel needed

WE ARE THE BROTHERS BEHIND BJAERECHICKEN

We are the Ingemarsson brothers; younger brother Martin and older brother Per-Olof. We are two pretty ordinary country lads who have been involved in poultry farming and running Bjärefågel since the late 80s. When we were growing up in the 1970s on our parents' farm outside Torekov, we raised pigs, among other things. The animals received all the additives that animals typically received at that time. Food had to be produced as efficiently as possible, and no one knew about antibiotic resistance or thought about sustainability. That's just how it was.
